“It is going well. Most importantly, the kids love it and are really appreciating having a new way to learn.”
Karen Eckblom, Skinner Road School
“The Reading Connection has been great for my students. I work with students 1st - 6th grades who are struggling in Language Arts. I started using the program in mid-October of this year and have seen tremendous results. I had been using another curriculum that was ‘more of the same’ - rules, drills, etc. It was boring. The students dreaded coming to my class. Now, they see me in the hall and ask, ‘Is it my day to come your room?’ I love their enthusiasm.
“I have seen an increase in handwriting abilities, reading fluency, and comprehension, as well as spelling. I am so grateful to have received the training. There was so much to learn at the workshop that I’m not sure I’ll use even a fourth of it this year. I am very thankful for the ideas that I am now equipped with to help them with their reading skills.”
Valerie Jernigan, Full Armor Christian Academy
“Things are going great! The kids are doing wonderfully with the program. After the training, I came back and started completely over. Even my lowest achievers are getting it easily! They are catching on so quickly. It has really helped them in sounding out words with sound words and the different sounds that each letter makes. This program has really improved their reading skills!”
Krystal Medford, Henderson Kindergarten School
“We had our big Writing State Test today. The general education teachers were impressed at how well the students did. We love our jobs and are having so much fun! We realize the beauty of how it all works together!!”
Theresa Lemke, Dublin Intermediate School
“The letter formation (moving out letters) was extremely valuable, and I felt it helped tremendously with handwriting and spelling patterns.”
Penny Seiler, Lakewood Elementary
“The slow talking has really helped with phonemic awareness, and they love it. I like the program and will start out with it next year.”
Sharon Makarski, Central Elementary School
“The Reading Connection is working very well with my students. It is amazing to see how much they retain and how they make the connection with the arm strokes when trying to recognize a letter. The movement was the most beneficial to my students. It just clicked for them when I started teaching them the letters. Moving their arms to cross the mid-line just made a huge difference in the responses they gave me.”
Nicki Greenhouse, Henderson Kindergarten School
“The student you heard so much about has learned a handful of letters already!! He proudly showed me and told me why he starts with the left arm down first!”
Patti Buell, Principal, Skinner Road School
“Everything is going great with the Reading Connection. I started teaching from the beginning after the workshop was over, and I am already caught up with everyone else. It is amazing how the students can tell me the moves before I show them, and how they come up with words on their own. Their handwriting is showing much improvement. I am thankful for the program.”
Kim Gunz, Henderson Kindergarten School
“Things are going very well. Compared to last year, we are well ahead of schedule. The kids are “snailing machines.” We are arm moving words and simple sentences now! It is so neat to see the students’ self-esteem building each day. We are currently working on stepping the letters out. I have received a lot of positive input from everyone! Our teachers are doing an awesome job!”
Buffie Walton, Henderson Kindergarten School
"The Reading Connection has made a huge improvement in my students’ reading abilities. They are learning to sound out words that are normally taught in the second and third grades. Where I normally would have only a few students reading, with Reading Connection the major majority of the class is capable. Even my lowest achievers are getting it easily! The kids have caught on so quickly, it’s astounding! They are even teaching me new things with this program. I love it!!! I love it!!! I love it!!!"
